To kick start 2025, the Pleasance Theatre Trust will present a record-breaking new comedy season at their Islington home, with over 70 work-in-progress comedy shows including brand new material from Dara Ó Briain, Sindhu Vee and Chloe Petts, with even more lined up over the winter and spring period.
Running from 16 January until 26 April, The Pleasance Theatre will be home to a whole host of comedy shows ranging from live stand up, sketch and tryouts for The Pleasance Comedy Reserve for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.
The team at Funny Women HQ are even more excited to see the line up this year include some of the winners and finalists from the Funny Women Awards including:
- Kate Cheka – Stage winner, 2023
- Tal Davies – Stage finalist, 2023
- Lorna Rose Treen – Stage and comedy shorts winner, 2022

The Work in Progress season is chock-a-block with new and established comedians mostly performing for one night, with the occasional comedian doing two nights, so make sure you book your tickets now, otherwise you may miss them before they head to Edinburgh.
Whether you prefer some up-front-and-personal comedy, love weird and wonderful characters or enjoy hilarious sketches, there is plenty to watch at The Pleasance over the next few months. One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to see what new material all the comedians have created in readiness for the Fringe.
