Sikisa recently received a diagnosis of dyslexia. While you can hardly say getting to her 30s without a diagnosis has held her back, having carved out a career in comedy, burlesque and immigration law, this news has caused Sikisa to reflect on her life.
While the show is sparked by a dyslexia diagnosis there is zero self-pity in this show, rather it has helped Sikisa make sense of her past. She delivers her story with life-affirming zest, sharing how as a shy child unable to easily express herself verbally, she found joy in dance.
Though never short on self-confidence, here is a new self-assuredness to Sikisa’s performance. She allows herself to be more vulnerable, sharing a childhood spent reading comics (easier to digest than a book), finding solace in emo music and uncertainty about attending a sex party for the first time.
This show is pure joy with a surprise at the end that shows the woman can do it all.
