After the success of the Whatever Happened to Baby Jane Austen pilot episode, comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders have now recorded a full series of the show.

Written by David Quantick, the next five episodes continue the story about two sisters who reunite after going their separate ways decades ago.

French plays novelist Florence Ransom and Saunders her glamorous sister Selina Mountjoy, who has found fame as a film actor. The two are reunited when Selina travels back to the UK in order to promote her kiss-and-tell autobiography, reigniting Florence’s sibling envy.

But things aren’t as they seem and Selina is broke, therefore there is no luxury hotel visit and instead, she has to stay at her sister’s. Now they are both writers, the sisters find themselves vying for the same literary award at the Hay Book Festival…

Rebecca Front joins the cast as Florence’s personal assistant, Mrs. Ragnarok, while Lisa McGrillis is back as Lucy, Florence’s daughter and Alistair McGowan will continue to play the male roles.

If you missed the pilot, it will be repeated on BBC Radio 4 on 1st April before the new episodes air.
