Aisling Bea – Plan Bea

Kate Stone

Kate Stone

You know when you’re in the company of genius. Just five minutes in and several warm belly laughs already under your belt, comedy love is complete. Aisling Bea delivered her roller-coaster masterpiece show with breath taking ease – you can almost smell the Pirate’s B.O and – without spoiling the novelty of the ride’s more colourful elements –  the denouement at the end makes you want to sit back on and go round again!

Aisling Bea Plan B

There’s no doubt about it, the Irish are bred for comedy. Although Aisling’s childhood deprivation was insignificant compared to the lives of the starving African children that stared out at her from the TV screen (her analogy not mine) it was the lack of cultural stimulus that ignited her imagination- from Baywatch to drama school you get swept along from one hilarious misadventure to another.

I love a show that makes me feel good. I am also happy to be challenged, yet my overwhelming preference is to be transported into a world that identifies with the emotional and physical highs and lows that we all inevitably experience every day. Aisling is the kind of performer that makes this aspect of life fun – even just for an hour.

There’s no plan B here –  just a genius at work who is going straight to the top of the comedy class.

Aisling Bea is at the Gilded Balloon (venue 14) at 9:30pm, 17th-18th August and 20th-30th August. For more information click here!

HOW TO BE A FUNNY WOMAN: IN THE BEGINNING

As somebody who facilitates comedy rather than performing it, this book will take the form of an anthology, a collection of my own experiences combined with those of some of the funniest and most brilliant women I have had the privilege to work with.
