We use maths in our everyday lives more than we realise! So, we were particularly delighted when Medway Adult Education approached us to run two free comedy workshops as part of its Multiply programme to put a humorous perspective on numbers and make them fun.
Maths is a big part of our lives, even when we don’t think that we can add up or subtract! Yet, we do all the time, often without realising the calculations and processes that go on in our brains all the time.
People who say they can’t add up are just like those who say they aren’t funny. Yet everybody instinctively knows how to count and laugh! The processes are similar and innate.
Small children love to stack things up and put them in order and numbers are quickly absorbed and associated with this process. If you make it funny too, then they never forget.
The use of humour goes hand in hand with parenting. We pull faces, make silly noises without any self-consciousness to entertain our kids, and we make kids laugh to stop them crying, change their mood or distract them. We don’t think about it, we just do it!
We’ve devised this fun interactive workshop for the grownups where numbers are so much part o the process, you won’t’ even notice them. Humour is a great way to help you remember the mathematical processes that are an intrinsic part of everyday living, at work or at play. We will help build your confidence with a mix of creativity, team games and practical exercises that will leave you wanting more!
There are two workshops on Tuesday 2nd July from 10.30am-12.30pm and on Thursday 11th July 6.30-8.30pm. To book your place scan the QR code below or follow the link here.
