We are thrilled to announce that the 2023 Funny Women Comedy Writing Award has received an extraordinary number of scripts this year. Thanks to the invaluable assistance of our fantastic panel of readers from the comedy industry, we have diligently reviewed and scored over 300 scripts, finally narrowing them down to a longlist of 25.
The standard of submissions was, as always, exceptionally high, making the task of selecting the longlist incredibly challenging. Our panel faced the delightful challenge of choosing from an array of outstanding scripts that encompassed a wide spectrum of comedic styles and genres.
Each script was judged against the criteria of concept, plot, character, and Humour & Dialogue, and the ones that rose to the top truly stood out for their exceptional qualities.
After much consideration, we believe the panel has done an incredible job curating an exceptional range of scripts that exemplify the richness and diversity of comedy writing.

The longlisted scripts will now be put forward to a panel of judges from across the comedy industry until we reach our shortlist of 10. The shortlist will be announced via the website, social media and emails to the successful entrants on the 26th August 2023. Good luck!
The winner will be announced at the Funny Women Stage Award final on the 28th September at Bloomsbury Theatre, London.
