Funny Women

We are thrilled to announce that the 2023 Funny Women Comedy Writing Award has received an extraordinary number of scripts this year. Thanks to the invaluable assistance of our fantastic panel of readers from the comedy industry, we have diligently reviewed and scored over 300 scripts, finally narrowing them down to a longlist of 25.

The standard of submissions was, as always, exceptionally high, making the task of selecting the longlist incredibly challenging. Our panel faced the delightful challenge of choosing from an array of outstanding scripts that encompassed a wide spectrum of comedic styles and genres.

Each script was judged against the criteria of concept, plot, character, and Humour & Dialogue, and the ones that rose to the top truly stood out for their exceptional qualities.

After much consideration, we believe the panel has done an incredible job curating an exceptional range of scripts that exemplify the richness and diversity of comedy writing.

Without further ado, we proudly present this year’s Comedy Writing Award longlist:

Nothing polarises this more than the fast-track comedy career of Serena Terry best known to her 3.5 million social media followers as ‘Mammy Banter’.
