Lorna Rose Treen has made Funny Women history by winning two awards at the Funny Women Awards 2022 Grand Final last week. The character comedian, writer and improviser triumphed in the Stage Award, playing a chain-smoking femme fatale and also won the Comedy Shorts Award for her film, My Entertainment Badge, where she portrayed a badge hungry Brownie.
The Stage Award, which is supported by NextUp Comedy, showcased 10 incredible acts with second place awarded to Marjolein Robertson and third to Jessie Nixon.
Sponsored by Sky Studios, the live final took place at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London last week (Thursday 29th September), hosted by 2018 Stage Award winner Thanyia Moore, and featuring a headline set from last year’s winner Lara Ricote.
Runners up in the Comedy Shorts category supported by the London Short Film Festival were Creative Writing 2.0 by Lorelei Mathias and New Mum’s New Toy by Sarah Grant and Katrina Allen.
The winning script in the Comedy Writing Award sponsored by Sky Studios, was Magical Extinction by Ruby Carr. Runners up were Beth’s Din by Ellie Silver, and Wasteland by Nicki Lucas.
TikTok comedian Chanel Williams triumphed in the Content Creator Award supported by heat magazine and voted by the public.
The Funny Women Comedy Industry Award supported by Comedy 50:50 and The Comedy Crowd went to Amy Annette. This is an industry nominated award and the shortlist included Anna Leong Brophy and Hannah George.
