Sindhu Vee Joins Cast of Matilda Film

2014 Funny Women Awards finalist Sindhu Vee is set to play librarian Mrs Phelps in a new film version of Tim Minchin’s stage musical of Matilda. The film will be streamed on Netflix outside the UK, where it will be released in cinemas.

Also joining the Matilda cast are This Is England‘s Stephen Graham and The Death of Stalin‘s Andrea Riseborough who will play Matilda’s awful parents. They join Emma Thompson who will play the terrifying Miss Trunchbull, Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey and Alisha Weir who plays the title role of Matilda.

Director Matthew Warchus said: “Matilda will be an imaginative and fresh retelling of the award-winning musical.… I look forward to introducing this beloved and powerful story to a new generation of fans around the world.”
