Our Mentoring Meetups and Open Mic events are part of The Glitter Project – A Safe Place supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Join us for some informal networking, fun and games, plus first-hand advice from visiting experts who’ve all ‘been there, done that’ in some capacity. We all know how challenging it can be to embark on a new interest and potential career so these events are designed to take out the overwhelm and connect you with other likeminded female and non-binary comedy performers, writers and creators.
Our very special guest for this event is Karen Falk who has served as the Archives Director for The Jim Henson Company since 1992 and is Vice President of The Jim Henson Legacy.
Karen is the author of Jim Henson’s Imagination Illustrated and the main contributor to The Jim Henson Company website Jim’s Red Book. She has organised numerous Henson exhibits and works closely with the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, and Museum of The Moving Image in New York where she serves on their Board. Most recently, Falk contributed to Ron Howard’s 2024 documentary, Jim Henson: Idea Man.
We are honoured that Karen is taking some time out of her busy work schedule to share her experience of working with the legacy left by Henson and answering questions about The Muppets, puppetry and their influence on the world of comedy.
This takes place in Playopolis, the board game cafe and bar in the heart of Rochester, under the direction of regional producer Nic Lamont.
