LOCATION: THE NET COMMUNITY HUB, Weedswood, Walderslade.
As we get older we get funnier! Come along and prove it at this workshop aimed at anybody who considers themselves to be a senior citizen here in Medway. Join us for some confidence boosting, mirth making, foolery and fun at this special STAND UP TO STAND OUT workshop – free to attend thanks to funding from Medway Council and the UK Government as part of our Comedy in the Community programme.
We are delighted to be partnering the Net Community Hub who are hosting the workshop at their community space in Weedswood, Walderslade which benefits residents of all ages but with a particular interest on the elderly and isolated.
The Hub provides inclusive recreational opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation, so we’ll be providing some inspiration with some tricks of the comedy trade and a special Open Mic to encourage participants to share their stories.
Explore techniques to communicate memorably and creatively within your communities and networks.
Facilitated by Lynne Parker, founder of Funny Women and Kirstin Miller, Comedy in the Community Project Lead and local business woman.
As a Rochester based not-for-profit business, we empower people to express themselves more confidently so that they can stand out in both their professional and personal lives.
Lynne founded Funny Women 23 years ago and has worked with thousands of women through the annual Funny Women Awards. She runs her workshops and events for organisations and companies including NatWest, Canada Life, Airbandb, Havas Lynx, and MHS. Funny Women’s HERlarious programme aimed at the workplace reflects the ideals of Funny Women, helping women to perform, write, create and do business with humour.
In this workshop Lynne deploys some of the tried and tested tricks of the comedy trade to provide insights and inspiration for anybody who wants to take on leadership roles, speak in public and tell their story. We would particularly like to encourage those of you who stand back from taking on community leadership roles due to a lack of confidence – Medway is full of amazing people and we’re here to stand by your side.
This workshop covers:
- Advice on how to ‘perform’, express yourself memorably and bring your ideas to life.
- Techniques to communicate more effectively.
- Knowing your worth – telling your own story, creating your own material, interpreting body language, and becoming more confident and memorable.
- Law of attraction – how to connect with the people you need, virtually and in person, and how humour can help you keep them interested without being annoying.
- Charisma, confidence and leadership skills.
- De-stressing in an instant by having some fun!
