LOCATION: THE HANGAR, Lankaster Parker Road, Rochester
We are celebrating International Women’s Day in the only way we know how – by making mirth and having some fun! Join us for some confidence boosting, mirth making and all female fun at this special STAND UP TO STAND OUT workshop.
This workshop is free to attend thanks to funding from Medway Council and the UK Government as part of Funny Women’s Comedy in the Community programme.
To mark the occasion, we’ve handpicked the perfect location! As well as the workshop you are invited to a unique shopping experience as this event takes place at The Hangar by Wisdom Hospice Shops, a wonderful emporium of preloved clothing, household items, books, toys and bric-a-brac.
As well as shopping, there’s an opportunity to reclaim your business ‘mojo’ with some tricks of the comedy trade and take part in a special Open Mic (not compulsory!)
Explore techniques to communicate memorably and creatively within your communities and networks. Facilitated by Lynne Parker, founder of Funny Women and Kirstin Miller, Comedy in the Community Project Lead and local business woman.
As a Rochester based not-for-profit business, we empower a community of women to express themselves more confidently so that they can stand out in both their professional and personal lives.
Lynne founded Funny Women 23 years ago and has worked with thousands of women through the annual Funny Women Awards. She runs her workshops and events for organisations and companies including NatWest, Canada Life, Airbandb, Havas Lynx, and MHS. Funny Women’s HERlarious programme aimed at the workplace reflects the ideals of Funny Women, helping women to perform, write, create and do business with humour.
In this workshop Lynne deploys some of the tried and tested tricks of the comedy trade to provide insights and inspiration for professional women who want to take on leadership roles, speak in public and tell their story. We would particularly like to encourage those of you who stand back from taking on community leadership roles due to a lack of confidence – Medway is full of amazing women and we’re here to stand by your side.
This workshop covers:
- Advice on how to ‘perform’, express yourself memorably and bring your ideas to life.
- Techniques to communicate more effectively.
- Knowing your worth – telling your own story, creating your own material, interpreting body language, and becoming more confident and memorable.
- Law of attraction – how to connect with the people you need, virtually and in person, and how humour can help you keep them interested without being annoying.
- Charisma, confidence and leadership skills.
- De-stressing in an instant by having some fun!
