With 2022 just starting, we renew our commitment to help build the next generation of comedic talent. Don’t lose track of your objectives and jump head first into our next Comedy Crash Course. Featuring an hour a day of expert coaching and guidance from brilliant industry experts and a showcase on Friday.

This course provides tailored tips and advice to help you write, perform and share your comedy.

Lynne Parker is the award-winning producer who created Funny Women In 2002. Lynne will begin the week with a workshop that connects you, builds your confidence and kick starts your creative brain into action.

Suchandrika Chakrabarti is a comedian who regularly writes for Radio 4’s The News Quiz and The Now Show, and she is currently previewing her first solo hour, I Miss Amy Winehouse. She will lead you through writing exercises, with an emphasis on joke writing, to help kickstart your comedy routines.

Kathryn Bond is a highly inventive performer who fuses fantastical character comedy with absurd clowning and stand up. She is the winner of the Funny Women Awards 2021 Comedy Writing Award. She will lead you through exercises to help you find comical characters, jokes and act outs and dialogue and shape them into monologues and sketches

Zara Janjua is a successful multi-hyphen TV professional. She is a journalist, presenter, producer, director, filmmaker, writer, comedian, actor, course facilitator and event host. She has written sketches for BBC programs, securing six commissions as a writer and performer. She will lead you on a session about filming yourself for sketch or social media, and personal branding and promotion.

Daily workshops are held on Zoom, from 12.00pm to 1.00pm Monday to Thursday and recorded should you miss a day.

The week culminates with a live online showcase where you’ll present your pitch and receive invaluable feedback from facilitators and peers. This is split into two parts with an hour interval on Friday 25th February 11.00am to 12.00pm & 1.00pm to 2.00pm.

“It was a brilliantly diverse line-up of talented industry professionals who gave us great techniques to try out new ideas while giving constructive and helpful feedback. I performed stand-up for the first time on this course and it felt like a major step for me, as everyone was really positive and encouraging and I learned a lot from watching the other participants too.”

“I loved doing the Comedy Crash Course. It was so inspiring to be surrounded by so many fellow funny women. All the guest speakers were excellent. They were kind and non-judgemental and gave us the confidence to try things without filtering ourselves. I would especially recommend this course to people who are starting out in comedy and in need of an extra boost!”
