Join us ‘On The Fringe’ for a sparkling mix of comedy with special guests and the brightest new talent at the world famous Edinburgh Fringe.  Enjoy stand-up, sketch, character, musical comedy and more as we showcase some of the best acts from the Funny Women Awards and beyond.   Featuring a different host and line up every day.

This show is hosted by:

Natalie Allison

Natalie is a Scottish stand-up comedian, MC, producer, director and writer who was a Funny Women Awards Regional Finalist in 2018.   She is currently producing a range of shows at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe while fitting in stand up comedy spots wherever she can.

Sindhu Vee

2013 Funny Women Awards finalist Sindhu Vee told her first joke age four. She had a terrible stutter so it took a very long time.   She used to be a banker – calm down – and has three children “they tell me they’re laughing with me, not at me.” The Vee stands for Venkatanarayanan. That’s six A’s. Count them. She is performing her Edinburgh Show Sandhog at the Pleasance Courtyard.

“insouciant..unwavering deadplan…priceless”     Chortle

“Refreshing, clever stuff”   Bruce Dessau

Maisie Adam

Maisie Adam is a comedian from Yorkshire (she didn’t think her accent was that thick, but since moving to Brighton she has learnt otherwise). Having only started stand-up comedy at the end of 2016, her anecdotal material and self-deprecating charm have quickly won her praise up and down the country. In August 2017, she won the UK’s biggest comedy newcomer competition So You Think You’re Funny?, becoming just the fourth woman to have done so in its 30-year history.

“Maisie Adam exudes an appealing, quirky energy and is clearly a natural wit.”  Steve Bennett, Chortle

“There’s something incredibly watchable about Adam, whether it’s her effervescence onstage, finding jokes in the minutiae of life or her fantastic physicality. Inevitably, she’ll be compared to a young female Peter Kay, except her jokes and performance are far more eccentric.”  The Skinny

Susan Riddell

After winning a place in BBC Writer’s Room Fast and Funny, Susan Riddell went on to write, create and star in several online comedy sketches for BBC Short Stuff which have garnered nearly three million views and counting. Susan recently performed stand-up at the Edinburgh Fringe in both CKP’s Lunchtime Special and the BBC Presents Comedy Tent. She also wrote a humorous weekly column for The Daily Record newspaper two years. Other writing credits and acting roles include Channel Four and BBC’s One’s spoof cop show Scot Squad. She is currently working on a sitcom pilot with the BBC and is a regular on the topical BBC radio panel show Breaking the News.

“She’s a brilliant comedian … a star on the rise”.  BBC Comedy Present

“Emerging talent with an original comic voice.”  Funny Women

“Formidable… fearless, quick with the audience work and ready with self put downs … delivered as if she’s making it up on the spot. She’s sharp make no mistake!”   The Wee Review

The Travelling Sisters

The Travelling Sisters are Lucy Fox, Laura Trenerry and Ell Sachs. They are a Gaulier trained comedy trio from Brisbane, Australia. Combining physical comedy, contemporary clown and original music, the trio conjure up bizarre worlds of tragically charming characters. Their sketch shows tread the line between the beautiful and the grotesque, the idiotic and the profound, the whimsical and the downright ridiculous.

“★★★★★ Like no other act you have ever seen”  Theatre People

“★★★★★ The Travelling Sisters are insane geniuses of sketch comedy”  Great Scott

★★★★ Indefinable alchemy…their sheer presence exudes fun and sass”  Chortle
