2017 Funny Women Awards Heat: Manchester

This is our 15th year of running the Funny Women Awards and once again we’re on the road across the UK and Ireland to find the newest and best female comedy talent.

We are very proud to be producing this heat in partnership with the Women in Comedy Festival, Manchester.

We have some incredible alumni including Zoe Lyons, Kerry Godliman, Bridget Christie, Susan Calman, Katherine Ryan, Sara Pascoe, Jayde Adams, Desiree Burch and last year’s winner, Harriet Braine, who is already making a name for herself.

Our much sought-after Stage Award focuses on a series of live heats where each act performs five minutes of comedy in front of an audience.  You could follow in their footsteps by taking part or come along and support the next brilliant crop of female performers and watch them take their first steps towards comedy glory.

This Manchester heat at Tribeca is hosted by former Funny Women Awards finalist Rachel Fairburn.  Her comedy treads the line between kitchen sink confessional and a bleakness unmatched by her peers.   A finalist is several other prestigious competition including City Life Comedian of the Year, NATY’s, English Comedian of The Year and the Welsh Unsigned Stand Up Awards she can move from amiable and engaging to serial killers in the same sentence.   Rachel co-hosts and co-writes the popular serial killer themed podcast All Killa No Filla and following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe with her one woman show ‘Her Majesty’ continues to rock her audiences’ worlds up and down the country.  Rachel will also be performing her own show at the Women In Comedy Festival.  rbmcomedy.com/rbm/client.php?section_id=102
