DESCRIPTION:Join Funny Women for a Mentoring Meetup as part of The Glitter Project – A Safe Place supported by funds raised from The Glitter Challenge.  \nJoin us for some informal networking\, fun and games\, plus first-hand advice from visiting experts who’ve all ‘been there\, done that’ in some capacity. We all know how challenging it can be to embark on a new interest and potential career\, so these events are designed to take out the overwhelm and connect you with other likeminded female and non-binary comedy performers\, writers and creators. \nFunny Women develops new comedy talent at grassroots with Awards\, workshops\, courses and open mic events to build confidence in female and non-binary performers\, writers and creators. The Glitter Project has been created as an enduring legacy with Jo Fletcher-Cross\, a non-executive director of Funny Women and comedian. \nThis takes place in The Big Difference\, a independent venue in Leicester\, under the direction of regional producers Kelly Griffiths and Rachel Baker. \nThis event is free to attend but we welcome donations to support our outreach work with The Glitter Project. \nNo need to book but feel free to email info@funnywomen.com if you want us to hold a place for you putting ‘Glitter Mentoring Meetup Leicester CF’ in the header.

DESCRIPTION:We’re committed to building the next generation of comedic talent and our brilliant Comedy Crash Course is an accessible and inclusive fast-track towards performing\, writing and creating comedy.  \n\n\n\nFeaturing an hour a day of expert coaching and guidance from brilliant industry experts and an opportunity to perform in an online showcase at the end of the week. \n\n\n\nLynne ParkerFounder & CEO\, Funny Women CIC\, TEDX Speaker\, Writer & Facilitator\, Comedy Coach and podcast host. Lynne will kickstart the week with a workshop that connects you\, builds your confidence and gets your creativity flowing. \nRachel Creeger is a multi-award winning stand up comedian\, writer and director\, and the only practising Orthodox Jew on the UK professional comedy circuit. She is resident MC and producer for 3 London comedy clubs – a pro night\, an interfaith gig\, and a Jewish comedy club\, and co-hosts both internationally renowned “Jew Talkin’ To Me?” podcast\, and Neighbours superfan podcast “Leaving Erinsborough”. Rachel has taken 4 critically acclaimed shows to the Edinburgh Fringe\, can regularly be seen on BBC1 and heard across the BBC Radio network\, and is a sought after act and host. \nMariana Feijó is a queer\, Portuguese multidisciplinary artist\, comedian\, writer\, photographer\, content producer and podcaster\, with international practice\, based in London. Her practice started from a necessity to learn how to communicate and create community. She believes in pushing the boundaries of conventional comedic performance through collaboration and the combining of different art forms\, confident that true original work can’t be developed within set frames. \nMonica Gaga a British-born black African queer improviser\, facilitator\, host\, performer and producer. She trained in Community Theatre at East 15 Acting School\, and her boundless love for improv stems from time spent at Second City in Chicago. Monica will show you how the principles of improv can be used as a tool to build on your performance skills. During her session you will engage in practical exercises to supercharge your comedy and performance. \nDaily workshops are held on Zoom\, from 12.00pm to 1.00pm Monday to Thursday and recorded should you miss a day. All times\, UK times! \n\n\n\nCulminating in a live online showcase on Friday\, where you’ll perform or present your pitch and receive invaluable feedback from facilitators and peers. This is split into two parts with an hour interval 11.30am to 12.30pm & 1.00pm to 2.00pm. Whether you’re a seasoned comedian or just starting out\, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with other funny women and grow your network. \nWriting comedy can feel as daunting as performing it. That’s why we created this format exclusively for our Patreon members: Writer’s Circle. \nBuilding on the success of our monthly Open House series\, we’ve tested out a new format to bring comedy creators of all kinds together to support each other. \nEveryone is invited to share a sample of their writing for thoughts\, reflections and feedback from the group. We will give you an opportunity to share ideas on stand up\, a script treatment or comedy dialogue. \nNo pressure for you to share your own writing\, you could bring a piece of someone else’s that inspires you – as long as you credit them and tell us why you like it! \nAll formats of comedy writing are welcome – it could be stand up\, TV\, short film\, poetry – anything you’d like to test out and share with a friendly group. \n\n\n\nPatreon Open House events happen on the first Monday of the month\, or nearest taking into account bank holidays.
