Hundreds of women have gained the confidence to perform on stage and in the boardroom. Join us for some confidence boosting\, mirth making and female-led fun at this special STAND UP TO STAND OUT event designed to to help you WORK\, PLAY AND PERFORM. \nThis workshop is free to attend thanks to funding from Medway Council and the UK Government as part of Funny Women’s Comedy in the Community programme\, now in its fourth year. \nTo mark the occasion\, we’re returning to one of our favourite places in Medway:  The Hangar by Wisdom Hospice Shops\, a wonderful emporium of preloved clothing\, household items\, books\, toys and bric-a-brac. As well as taking part in two different workshops\, you can enjoy a unique shopping experience as well as an opportunity to reclaim your business ‘mojo’ with some tricks of the comedy trade and take part in a special improvised Open Mic showcase (not compulsory!) \nExplore techniques to communicate memorably and creatively within your communities and networks. We are celebrating the joy (yes\, really!) of work in partnership with Medway Council and the Federation of Small Businesses in the only way we know how – by encouraging a few laughs and expanding our creative boundaries with humour. \nFunny Women has been empowering women in the comedy industry for over 20 years and in response to the demand for our programmes in the workplace we run our HERlarious programme to encourage professional women to have their voice and invite the support of their male allies. \nWe learn and bond through the collective power of humour and we retain a lot more information and build relationships with the people we work with by having a few laughs. \nOur very special free event is aimed at exactly that as part of our Comedy in the Community programme here in Medway. It features workshops\, panel discussion\, essential networking and live comedy (of course!)\, and we will show you how to express your ideas more confidently and freely using some of the tried and tested tricks of the comedy trade. \nWe have carefully curated a programme to boost your confidence to take on a leadership within your community\, to apply for a job you’ve always wanted or to say what you think in a meeting. \nGet valuable advice on how to work\, play and perform your ‘roles’ in business\, embrace creative thinking and improve your mental health and wellbeing. We will introduce you to techniques to communicate more effectively\, interpret body language\, tell a story and develop a strong personal narrative with humour. \nEveryone is encouraged to attend\, regardless of gender. \nTake part in a lively round of quickfire workshops facilitated by amazing local business leaders. During the Winter Warm Up you will be introduced to some well know techniques to help you perform\, write or create comedy or inject some humour into your everyday interactions\, at work or play. \n\nNeed a confidence boost?\n\n\nWant to write new comedy material and develop your performance style?\n\n\nPerforming stand up comedy\, presenting online or speaking in public for the first time?\n\n\nNervous about using humour?\n\n\nWant to make new friends and influence people?!\n\n  \nLed by Funny Women founder Lynne Parker BCAa with some additional guidance from two guest experts\, the day will culminate in a showcase for you to show off what you’ve created. \n  \nLynne Parker \nLynne Parker has been running her comedy workshops since 2009 and has witnessed the genesis of many comedy careers through the Funny Women Awards and our programme of community events. Her initiative and guidance has enabled hundreds of women to gain the confidence to perform on stage and in the boardroom. Lynne will kickstart the week with a workshop that connects you\, builds your confidence and gets your creativity flowing. \nRachel Creeger is a multi-award winning stand up comedian\, writer and director\, and the only practising Orthodox Jew on the UK professional comedy circuit. She is resident MC and producer for 3 London comedy clubs – a pro night\, an interfaith gig\, and a Jewish comedy club\, and co-hosts both internationally renowned “Jew Talkin’ To Me?” podcast\, and Neighbours superfan podcast “Leaving Erinsborough”. Rachel has taken 4 critically acclaimed shows to the Edinburgh Fringe\, can regularly be seen on BBC1 and heard across the BBC Radio network\, and is a sought after act and host. \nMariana Feijó is a queer\, Portuguese multidisciplinary artist\, comedian\, writer\, photographer\, content producer and podcaster\, with international practice\, based in London. Her practice started from a necessity to learn how to communicate and create community. She believes in pushing the boundaries of conventional comedic performance through collaboration and the combining of different art forms\, confident that true original work can’t be developed within set frames. \nMonica Gaga a British-born black African queer improviser\, facilitator\, host\, performer and producer. She trained in Community Theatre at East 15 Acting School\, and her boundless love for improv stems from time spent at Second City in Chicago. Monica will show you how the principles of improv can be used as a tool to build on your performance skills. During her session you will engage in practical exercises to supercharge your comedy and performance. \nDaily workshops are held on Zoom\, from 12.00pm to 1.00pm Monday to Thursday and recorded should you miss a day.
