The Best Businesswomen Awards have announced their winners for 2024 at a Gala Awards evening held at the Hilton Syon Park. Our very own founder, Lynne Parker, took home a coveted gold award for Most Inspiring Businesswoman in this prestigious competition which seeks to find the very best female business talent from across the UK.
Speaking about the award, Lynne says, ‘I’m truly honoured, if a little bit shellshocked, to have my work with Funny Women recognised in this way but after 22 years it’s very welcome!
‘Funny Women is a business of two halves. On the one hand, we’re supporting women to get into comedy as performers, writers and creators with our own Awards, workshops, courses and community events. On the other, we’re encouraging everybody who identifies as female to have a voice and stand up for what they believe in both personally and professionally. This is my life’s work and I accept this award on behalf of all the amazing women who inspire me, day in day out.’
Despite a challenging economic climate, the innovation, flair and passion of female entrepreneurs shone through. All winners, selected by a panel of business experts, demonstrated their business acumen, tenacity and courage.
The Best Businesswomen Awards are designed to recognise the achievement of female owned businesses and charities across a wide range of categories and are open to any female business owners.
Debbie Gilbert, the founder and organiser of The Best Businesswomen Awards, said, ‘This is the 10th Year of the awards, and we have recognised over 1000 women since we launched in 2015 across a huge range of industry sectors.
‘The selection process is rigorous and to be one of our winners is a major achievement. The judges make their selections based on business expertise, innovation, and high levels of customer care. Our winners are shining examples of outstanding entrepreneurs who have proved their success to our judges and have shown they have the results worthy of being recognised and rewarded.’
The category for Most Inspiring Businesswoman was sponsored by Sister Snog, an award winning business club that champions female entrepreneurs, and Lynne’s award was presented by its founder, Hela Wozniak-Kay, pictured above with Lynne.
The judges commented: ‘Lynne has shown vision and impact in addressing gender inequality in comedy through Funny Women. Her pioneering work has launched numerous careers, set new diversity standards, and empowered women beyond comedy with innovative workshops.
‘Despite challenges, her resilience and leadership have driven significant industry changes and inspired others. She has shown total commitment to social responsibility, evidenced by affordable access to programmes and community partnerships, alongside financial stability and growth. A truly inspiring woman.’
