Aussie comedian and all round funny woman, Zoe Coombs Marr, crafts comedy like a wizard armed not with a wand, but a spreadsheet in her new show, Every Single Thing in my Entire Life at Soho Theatre.
Zoe bounces onto the stage with the might of a thousand tiggers chomping at the bit to share her carefully crafted quips, jokes and stories.
Over the course of the night, Zoe took us on a journey through (almost) every single thing in her life all of which is recorded on what I can only describe as the Mother of all spreadsheets and a Miro board. Eat your heart out project managers and spread-heads.
In many ways it’s hard to describe Every Single Thing in my Entire Life, it’s a show that explores all the different stories, moments and things that have made her who she is today. From Bomfunk MC (remember them?) to her Dad’s curry, and from old school haircuts to ex-girlfriends and dare I say, ‘street pizza’. We’ve all met the guy down the pub who has 1001 stories, but Zoe really has 100 times that.
From the moment she bounces on stage to the moment she jumps off, Zoe is very clearly genuine and authentic with a lust for life that she openly shares with everyone, making her so enjoyable to watch. Looking around the room, the audience love her and it’s easy to see why. She’s not afraid to engage with the audience – impromptu or not – and shares her life with a sense of ease that most people would envy. Zoe finds the funny in everything, filtering it through a quirky lens, wrapping it up in a mind bogglingly heartfelt universe of diagrams, excel tables and digital post-its. Sound odd? Believe me, you’ll get it when you see it.
The only problem I have is that we didn’t actually hear everything on the spreadsheet…I need to know more…I’m already waiting for part two.
Zoe Coombs Marr’s show Every Single Thing in my Life is on at Soho Theatre, Dean Street until Saturday 21 September.
