As 2024 continues to fly by, the comedy festival season races on, and this month in Austin, Texas, is the 12th annual Moontower Comedy Festival (10-21 April). Moontower is one of the biggest comedy festivals in the world, and this year it’s back with a whopping line up of 126 shows, with both headline and club acts to fill your boots with. Hosted across multiple venues around Austin, there’ll be a mixture of traditional stand up, sketch, podcast recordings and more. Here’s our pick of some of the best acts to see.

Amy Sedaris
Tues 16 April @ 7:00 PM, The Paramount Theatre
Comedian, writer and Hollywood actor, Amy Sedaris is not one to miss at Moontower Comedy Festival. From her own TV series’ Strangers with Candy and Emmy nominated At Home with Amy Sedaris, to the other film and TV in her arsenal, including: The Mandalorian, BoJack Horseman and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Sedaris has stormed our screens with her unique brand of comedy mastery, making her headline show at Moontower frankly, a must-see.

Margret Cho, Live and Livid!
Thurs 11 April @ 9:00 PM, The Paramount Theatre
The legendary Margret Cho is back with her newest tour Live and Livid!, reflecting on her 40 years as a stand up comedian, with observations on everything she’s livid about, predominantly: homophobia, sexism and racism. Being a living legend, there are’t many disciplines that Cho hasn’t dipper her toe into. An actor, advocate, musician, with 5 Grammy and Emmy nominations under her belt, and a clothing line, she’s an over-achiever to say the least.

Rachel Feinstein has toured the States with her stand up comedy, and graced our screens with her comic acting, some of her credits include: Crashing, Life & Beth and Inside Amy Schumer, as well as appearing on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Thurs 18 April @ 9:00 PM, The Paramount Theatre
Ms. Pat AKA Patricia Williams stars in her own critically acclaimed comedy show The Ms. Pat Show, based on her real life story of inner-city drug dealer turned suburban mum, and her show Ms. Pat Settles It, in which she plays a judge to settle people’s everyday disputes. Her stand up special Y’all Wanna Hear Something Crazy? is currently on Netflix, and she also hosts a radio show and podcast. Somehow, she’s also managed to squeeze in a show at Moontower Comedy Festival. You can catch her at The Paramount Theatre for one night only!

Natalie Palamides is a character comic, influenced heavily by clowning and sketch comedy. Palamides took her one hour show Nate, A One Man Show to the Fringe in 2018, after taking home the prestigious Best Newcomer Award in 2017 for her debut show Laid. Nate went on to stream on Netflix, reaching critical acclaim worldwide, with an international tour to top it off. Palamides is not one to miss!

Olivia Flood-Wylie

Named by yours truly (*cough* Funny Women *cough*) as Funny Women Stage Award Semi Finalist 2020, LA based comic Olivia Flood-Wylie has been busy doing improv with Boom Chicago, part of the sketch group That’s Hollywood, Baby and created two one-hour comedy specials at various comedy festivals across the States.
