Micky Overman: The Precipice

Micky Overman’s body wants baby, but does her mind want baby? I suspect this question is on the collective millennial mind right now (whatever that is) as we approach middle age, unless you are one of the few Millennials who managed to get through the 90s and early 2000s and still be sure of yourself. And if you did, are you sure?

In what could easily descend into a lazy ‘men vs women’ schtick, Overman is instead insightful and measured, whether examining her biological clock vs climate change or expectations of Millennial women vs Boomer women. That is not to say this show is worthy, rather when Overman takes her subjects, such as robots, to silly extremes there is always more than a grain of truth there.

Considering the show’s premise is based on whether Overman and her boyfriend should have a baby, there is very little solipsism, if any. It is a whipsmart summation of how paralyzing choice can be, and how responsible we can be with it, especially when choices may be falling away before our eyes be it via politics or the environment.

A near faultless show, The Precipice is not to be missed.
