Having successfully taken their events online, The Leicester Comedy Festival has now announced the shortlist for its annual awards. The winners will be announced at an exclusive, invitation-only online ceremony hosted by Zoe Lyons.

Festival director Geoff Rowe said: “The 2021 festivals were clearly very different to previous festivals given everything was online.  However, we still wanted to recognise the amazing contribution performers and others made to the events and we are still going ahead with our ceremony.”

Taking place over 19 days, the festival sold over 20,000 tickets and we were delighted to see plenty of Funny Women Awards alumni and friends on the programme, some of whom have made it to the list of nominees!

Robby Hoffman: Review

Robby Hoffman’s eponymously titled show is an experience. With aggressive crowd work from the outset, she lays out her stall with the words “it’s not for everyone”. With some truly original hot takes on subjects such as why war exists, the invention of the window, and who is actually gay.

Live At The Marlowe: Review

I am reflecting on comedy and ageism after going to see Live At The Marlowe in Canterbury at the weekend. It was a much-needed comedy top up for me and on home territory here in Kent despite the 60 mile round trip!
