Desiree Burch hosts Radio 4 panel show

BBC Radio 4 is to record a pilot called Bameshow, a panel show which will feature comedians of colour, hosted by 2015 Funny Women Awards winner Desiree Burch.

The comedian said: “Welcome to the only BBC Radio 4 panel show featuring exclusively people of colour! But how in an age of entertainment tokenism has this been made possible? This is audio. No-one knows we’re not white.” The a new format promises to poke fun at “tokenism, unconscious bias and just plain old racism, Desiree and the cast intend to go bravely (and mischievously) where others fear to tread.”

Athena Kugblenu, Kemah Bob, Ken Cheng and Amrou Al-Khadi, AKA drag performer Glamrou, will guest on the pilot, which will be recorded in front of a virtual audience.

The pilot will be recorded this Thursday in front of a virtual audience. For tickets click here!
