Katy Brand Film to star Emma Thompson

Comedian, author AND 2019 Funny Women Awards host Katy Brand has written a film which will star Emma Thompson.

Good Luck To You, Leo Grande features Thompson as a 55-year-old widow who, in search of some good sex outside of her dull marriage, hires a sex worker – or sex therapist, Leo Grande. This will be Brand’s first feature film, today she tweeted: “I am very happy/excited/amazed this is actually happening!”

The film will be produced by Genesius Pictures in a joint project with Cornerstone Films. Speaking in Variety director Sophie Hyde said: “I’m thrilled to be working with the tremendously funny and heartbreakingly honest Emma Thompson to explore intimacy and desire, and to put on screen a relationship that feels unexpected and delightful. At a time when our need for each other is so vividly present, it will be a delight to create and show this connection between two people, which is funny, sexy and moving.”

Genesius Pictures co-founder Debbie Gray described the script as: “funny, relatable, relevant. It’s great to have a female-strong team with such a passion for the project.”

Good Luck To You, Leo Grande will go into production in 2021.
