The Power Puff Girls Get Gritty Reboot

The Powerpuff Girls series is set to get a live-action gritty reboot on CW led by Greg Berlanti and Diablo Cody. According to the synopsis: “The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?”

If you’d spent your childhood fighting crime you might spend your early adulthood thinking you were owed a break. Will Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup go the way of the more wayward Disney child stars? We don’t know.

In the original Cartoon Network series, the crime-fighting trio were accidentally created in a laboratory when sugar, spice and all things nice was combined with Chemical X.

Using their superpowers which included speed, X-ray vision and super-strength (and tongue curling), the Powerpuff Girls defended Townsville against various threats, such as stylish villain and chimpanzee Mojo Jojo.

The reboot will air on the CW Channel.
