If you’re expecting a logically written show, with emotional stakes and big statements, maybe The Dinosaur Show isn’t for you. If all you want is a hilarious show, performed by an exquisitely expressive comedian, with an ease of making even the darkest moments in her mental health history funny, then Harriet Dyer is definitely your person!
The show takes a bit to start, start. All accurately planned, or a performer who knows herself well enough to know she’ll have to get a few things off her chest to start with. No use in writing those ten first minutes of the show, if you won’t be able to focus, just rely on your natural comedic genius! But it does start, start, as the laughter is unavoidable from the get-go, be it planned or of the moment.
Dyer tries to propose an alternative theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs, while wearing a big, inflatable diplodocus outfit. Too much fun! Conscious of budgeting, Harriet finds alternatives to all the big special effects needed for the show. Egg hatching to fireworks is achieved with the least amount of money spent in history!
The comedian’s theory is passed on to the audience with a character and musical numbers and choreographies. Harriet knows this can all be too much, and she even scheduled some breaks in, so the audience can rest from all her energy, while watching pre-recorded videos of herself.
If you don’t fight the fun, it will no doubt find you! It oozes out of Harriet Dyer and infects us all!
