Amy Gledhill Awarded Caroline Aherne Bursary

The BBC has announced stand-up comedian and one half of sketch duo The Delightful Sausage Amy Gledhill as the second ever winner of the Caroline Aherne Bursary. Amy will receive £5,000 plus mentoring from a BBC commissioning editor.

The 2012 Funny Women Awards finalist tweeted: “This is such a huge deal and I’m absolutely thrilled.” The bursary is awarded to character comedians who “radiate a northern authenticity” as the late, great Caroline Aherne did.

Last year’s winner was stand-up and writer Sophie Willan, from Bolton.

Congratulations Amy!
