The results are now in for our 4th and final award of the 2017 Funny Women Awards and we can announce the three finalists for the Comedy Writing Award.

‘Nosh’ by Alex Hardy

‘Hitched’ by Rhiannon Nead

‘S&M Sissy and Mistress’ by Kiran Benawra

A winner will be announced at our Charity Final which takes place at the Duchess Theatre, London on Monday 12th March. Tickets are on sale for this brilliant night as part of HeForShe Arts Week London here.

As well as some pretty lovely prizes from our Awards partner, Oliver Bonas, the winner of the Funny Women Comedy Writing Award will have the opportunity to develop their script with the BAFTA and Emmy Award winning Lion Television, producers of Horrible Histories (CBBC), When Bowie Met Bolan (Sky Arts), and Getting Animated (BBC3)

Lion Television is a multi-award winning London based television production company, responsible for producing internationally renowned entertainment programmes such as Officially Amazing, Castaway & Cash Cab, as well as many successful factual series including Homes Under The Hammer, Full Steam Ahead, and Mary Beard’s Ultimate Rome.

Howard Cohen, senior development producer for Lion Television and a final round judge for the award, says, ‘The #workwithus debate and the high standard of so many female comedians and comedy writers currently working in the UK makes working with Funny Women to uncover the hidden funny female writers out there, a great opportunity.’

We hear you Howard!  This in an amazing opportunity for our winner.  The other final round judges for this category were Daniel Page of Why Did the Chicken!, who was overall consultant producer, Janet Awe, comedy development executive at Sky, and Lynne Parker, founder and executive producer of Funny Women.
