Meet 2017 Funny Women Awards Finalist Susan Riddell

Funny Women

Funny Women

The standard of the 2017 Funny Women Awards Regional Finals has been exceptional. In recognition of this, we are pleased to announce four wildcards – bringing the 2017 Funny Women Awards finalists up to 10. Even the Beast from the East couldn’t stop Susan Riddell being picked from her Manchester Regional Final as another wildcard who will go through to the Funny Women Awards Final on 12th March.

Funny Women: How does it feel to be through to the Funny Women Awards final?

Susan Riddell: Very exciting! Hopefully the snow buggers off for the final so I can actually get on stage this time!

FW: How did you get started in comedy?

SR: I started off writing comedy sketches with no intention of performing them, but quickly realised I couldn’t afford to pay actors so I reluctantly decided to act in them. After that I tried stand up for the same kind of reason. I had all these ideas and it was the easiest way to get them out there.

FW: Who is your comedy inspiration?

SR: I’m not sure I have one but my family and pals are funny. They give me ideas all the time. Daft stuff inspires me.

FW: Who are your favourite funny women?

SR: It changes all the time. I just watched Lynn Koplitz Netflix special and I loved it. Same goes for Jen Kirkman. I love the Birthday Girls sketch group too.

You can see Susan Riddell at the 2017 Funny Women Award Finals with host Jan Ravens on 12th March at the Duchess Theatre. For tickets click here!
