The Travelling Sisters:

You might be mistaken into thinking you have walked into a cocktail party rather than a…shipping-container-converted-into-a-performance-space-at-the-Pleasance when you go to The Travelling Sisters show. The three women greet each audience member whilst dancing in some very sophisticated outfits.

The Travelling Sisters were a favourite of mine at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe and they didn’t disappoint this year, bringing back some old favourite characters as well as new, equally ridiculous ones. Each sketch features something so implausible you can’t figure out what the root idea can have been. The trick is that they always make the ridiculous make sense.

Whether it’s Laura, my favourite Travelling Sister revealing her fledgling stand up routine, or Lucy – that’s my other favourite Travelling Sister leading the others in a story of taking the Olympics by, not storm… taking the Olympics by… well you will have to see the show to find out, or of course Ell, a favourite Travelling Sister of mine impressing us all with her dance moves there is something to amuse, or bemuse, everybody in this show.

You may be sad to see the array of costumes on the rack dwindle as the show approaches its end but fear not, the Travelling Sisters will be back in town soon…
