Miss Represented

Miss Represented is a Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival project, operating as an arts collective working with vulnerable young women aged between 13 and 21 who are dealing with difficult life situations and are considered at risk. In order to continue the work of this flagship creative learning project, Miss Represented is crowdfunding.

The collective uses the arts to help young women explore important issues. feel empowered and have a platform to be heard. They have collaborated with the musician Plan B and appeared on BBC Radio 1 XTRA.

Through all of this Miss Represented aims to help young women develop social, political and media literacy and awareness, feel they have a safe and supportive space for personal development and move away from reactive choices to informed decision making. They help the women involved develop self-worth and feel empowered through experiencing collaboration and forming positive relationships to pursue their passions.

It is a fantastic project, crowdfunding pledges will help Miss Represented focus on the next phase of creative work which will centre on Being Female, working on a retrospective to celebrate International Women’s Day, touring their show Home:Life which explores the experience of being young and homeless and help fund graduations that support the different pathways of education, employment and apprenticeships.
