While Funny Women has been busy getting ready to give out the Awards next week, our very own Lynne Parker, the founder of Funny Women, has been nominated in the Women's Champion category of the Achiever's Academy for Women annual awards.
We're assured that the award has nothing to do with Lynne's expert jousting skills, and everything to do with the 10 years of hard work which has been put into Funny Women, from travelling the country to seek out new talent, to running workshops which enable women to find their voice, and their confidence.
“I am honoured to be nominated for this award. So much of what you do as a producer is unseen so to have my commitment and passion for giving women a voice through comedy recognised with this nomination is particularly special. I’m in some awe inspiring company so may the best champion win! I hope I won’t have to resort to a duel!"
The Achievers Academy for Women was started by Jo Cameron when she saw there was a gap for a network of women who run established businesses. The Achievers Academy is a membership organisation dedicated to women's development and success and the sole purpose of the Academy is to propel women to even higher levels of achievement.
The Awards presented during the Annual Women's Leaders Dinner are Woman Business Owner, Women's Champion, Woman in Property/Construction, Woman in Banking/Finance, Leadership in the Community, Young Entrepreneur, Corporate Leader, Woman in Engineering/Technology, Network of Networks and the Achievers Academy Network Member of the Year.
Lynne is up against Counsellor Rabia Bhatti, Marie Boyer of France Line International Transport Ltd, Jody Day of Gateway Women and Jenni Russell of Jenni Russell Ltd for the Women's Champion Award. The Awards ceremony takes place on Friday 9th November in Birmingham. For more information visit www.achieversacademyforwomen.co.uk.
