It might not be a date on your calendar that you eagerly count down to, but a regular smear test is the best protection against cervical cancer. The test identifies changes in the cells of the cervix and early detection can prevent cervical cancer developing. In spite of this many women have never had a smear test.
ITV's This Morning are looking for 25 people between the ages of 25-64 to appear on the show and have a smear test. The aim of the piece, No Fear Go Smear is to raise awareness and promote smear tests as nothing to fear. Participants will be pampered and receive a pedicure. A medical professional (not Holly Willoughby or Philip Schofield) will then administer the smear test.
Participants will receive their results within 48 hours and a professional support team will be on hand to answer any medical questions or offer psychological support. Should any cell abnormalities arise a consultation will be offered.
This Morning will select some of the participants to be followed on their medical journey. You will need to be available for filming the week commencing the 8th September. If you are selected you will also need to be available a further few days, as filming may continue through your initial stages of treatment.
Filming will take place in London Studios and travel expenses will be covered. If you are interested in taking part and would like further information please contact Eleanor Arkle at Eleanor.arkle@itv.com
