Funny Women Awards Heat: London

This is our 15th year of running the Funny Women Awards and once again we’re on the road across the UK and Ireland to find the newest and best female comedy talent.

We have some incredible alumni including Zoe Lyons, Kerry Godliman, Bridget Christie, Susan Calman, Katherine Ryan, Sara Pascoe, Jayde Adams, Desiree Burch and last year’s winner, Harriet Braine, who is already making a name for herself.

Our much sought-after Stage Award focuses on a series of live heats where each act performs five minutes of comedy in front of an audience.  You could follow in their footsteps by taking part or come along and support the next brilliant crop of female performers and watch them take their first steps towards comedy glory.

  • Register here if you want to take part or book now to be in the audience.

This London heat at the Betsey Trotwood is hosted by former Funny Women Awards finalist Sindhu Vee (BBC, BBC Radio, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled) who this year performed her Edinburgh Fringe debut one woman show ‘Iguana Mum’ in which she talked about power struggles, Vikings, mothering, Wall Street, benign dictatorship – the key building blocks of family life.   The Vee stands for Venkatanarayanan.   That’s six A’s.  Count them.   She is also a NATYs 2017 runner up, Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year 2017 runner up and BBC New Comedy Award 2016 Finalist and regularly performs on the BBC’s Asian Network Comedy.  sindhuvee.com
