This is our 15th year of running the Funny Women Awards and once again we’re on the road across the UK and Ireland to find the newest and best female comedy talent.
We have some incredible alumni including Zoe Lyons, Kerry Godliman, Bridget Christie, Susan Calman, Katherine Ryan, Sara Pascoe, Jayde Adams, Desiree Burch and last year’s winner, Harriet Braine, who is already making a name for herself.
Our much sought-after Stage Award focuses on a series of live heats where each act performs five minutes of comedy in front of an audience. You could follow in their footsteps by taking part or come along and support the next brilliant crop of female performers and watch them take their first steps towards comedy glory.
This London Heat at The Betsey Trotwood will be hosted by award-winning comedian Rosie Wilby who has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, Summer Nights, Four Thought, Midweek, The Human Zoo and Woman’s Hour and at festivals including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Green Man, Larmer Tree and Latitude. A finalist at The Funny Women Awards 2006 and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2007, she’s been touring acclaimed solo shows internationally and steadily building a word-of-mouth army of fans ever since.
Her writing has been published in The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Independent, New Statesman and more. Her first book Is Monogamy Dead is published by Accent Press and follows her TEDx talk of the same name.
She co-hosts Radio Diva on Resonance FM alongside Heather Peace every Tuesday and has presented for BBC Sussex and Surrey.
See you there!
