2017 Funny Women Awards Heat: London

This is our 15th year of running the Funny Women Awards and once again we’re on the road across the UK and Ireland to find the newest and best female comedy talent.

We have some incredible alumni including Zoe Lyons, Kerry Godliman, Bridget Christie, Susan Calman, Katherine Ryan, Sara Pascoe, Jayde Adams, Desiree Burch and last year’s winner, Harriet Braine, who is already making a name for herself.

Our much sought-after Stage Award focuses on a series of live heats where each act performs five minutes of comedy in front of an audience.  You could follow in their footsteps by taking part or come along and support the next brilliant crop of female performers and watch them take their first steps towards comedy glory.

Register here if you want to take part or book now to be in the audience.

This London Heat at The Phoenix Artist Club will be hosted by stand up and compere Maureen Younger who gigs all around the UK, abroad and even in German!   She is one of the few (if only) comedians to work regularly on the mainstream and urban comedy circuits.   Maureen’s gigs have ranged from being the support act for the entire West End run of The Naked Magicians at the Trafalgar Studios in London as well as a warm up act for Puppetry of the Penis to performing alongside Arthur Smith at the Barbican.  She has also supported Shazia Mirza on tour, regularly appears at Coventry and Birmingham Pride, and was one of the acts at the Jamaica vs The World gigs at the 02. (Maureen was the world!).    maureenyounger.com
