Terms and Conditions, Comedy Shorts Award

  1.  ENTRY CRITERIA

1.1 You are 18 years or older and resident of the UK or Ireland.

 

1.2 One entry per person only.

 

1.3 Your film must be registered on the Funnywomen.com website and film file or link to be submitted by midnight of the 31st of January 2018.

Film registrations made and submissions received after this deadline will not be accepted.

 

1.4 Your film has been produced, written or directed and devised by a woman.  If in doubt, please email shortsaward@funnywomen.com.

 

1.5 Your film is no more than 6 minutes in length. If credits are included, these must be contained within those 6 minutes.

 

1.6 You must be able to submit a high resolution copy of your film.

Ideally your supplied film file is shot 1080i and 25fps, but this is not mandatory.  If you have any queries email shortsaward@funnywomen.com.

 

1.71 Your film is your original piece of work, with full permission from all participants involved in the making of the film, and relevant licenses acquired for any music used within the film.

 

1.72 You own, or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents and permissions to use any third party intellectual property rights including, but not limited to, trade-marks, copyright (especially regarding music licenses*), confidential information and patents in the Content used in your film (each, a “Content Release”).

*Please note if you have a commercial music license through PRS we will need to check it.

 

1.73 Your film does not infringe the intellectual property rights or right of privacy of any third party.

 

1.74 You have the written consent, release, and/or permission (each, a “Contributor Release”) of each and every identifiable individual person in the film to use the name or likeness of each and every such person in film.

 

1.75 Funny Women and Comedy Central (CC) will not be held responsible for the promotion and distribution of materials that contain footage and/or music that does not have the required legal permissions (see clauses 1.71, 1.72, 1.73 and 1.74).

Make sure you have all the relevant permissions!

 

1.8 Funny Women and Comedy Central (CC) reserve the right to refuse entries deemed deliberately defamatory, libelous, discriminatory, illegal, inflammatory, obscene, threatening, abusive or invasive of an individual’s privacy.

 

 

 

 

  1. HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS

2.1 All films registered on the Funnywomen.com website and submitted by midnight of the 31st of January 2018 will be reviewed by the Funny Women team.

If both the registration and the film files or links have been received successfully, entrants will receive confirmation emails.

 

2.2 The Funny Women team will then make background, plagiarism and copyright checks to ensure films meet entry criteria.  Any films that do not meet the entry criteria will not go forward to the industry judging panel.

 

2.3 Selected films will then be viewed and scored by our industry panel who will choose the Top 3 finalists and the winner.

 

2.4 Our judges’ decision will be final.

 

2.5 Top 10 finalists, Top 3 finalists and the winner will be informed by February 28th 2018.

 

2.6 Top 10 finalists, Top 3 finalists and the winner must not reveal that they have been chosen until the finalists and winners are revealed on the evening of March 4th 2018.

 

 

 

  1. BROADCAST

3.1 By entering the competition, you grant permission for Funny Women Ltd and partners to broadcast your film at Funny Women Events and on the Funny Women digital platforms (Funny Women YouTube channel, Funny Women website, Funny Women social media platforms including Facebook) in perpetuity.

 

3.2 By entering the competition, you also grant permission to the Paramount UK Partnership trading as Comedy Central (“CC”) to stream, broadcast and/or host your film on its website(s) and social media/digital platforms in all media worldwide in perpetuity. You further grant CC the right in its discretion to edit your film for compliance (including but not limited to OFCOM codes and guidelines) and/or legal reasons.

 

3.3 Entrants may be required to deliver to CC all Content Releases and all Contributor Releases in relation to their film (directly or via Funny Women) before they will be considered finalists. In addition, you will be required to sign CC’s standard license agreement confirming the rights in your entry are cleared and that you have obtained the relevant clearances in accordance with these terms.

 

3.4 Funny Women & CC reserve the right to not broadcast or host films if they are considered non-compliant with these terms and conditions or otherwise detrimental to either of them.

 

3.5 Funny Women & CC  reserve the right to option for further development any films submitted, but neither party will be obliged to take up this option.
