The highly anticipated show Motherland, written by Sharon Horgan, Graham Linehan, Helen Linehan and comedian Holly Walsh, starts tonight on BBC 2. The pilot aired last year and is still available to watch on iPlayer, here!
Motherland features a brilliant cast and savagely accurate portrayals of parents with buttock-clenching scenes not witnessed since Peep Show ended. With the impressively well groomed alpha mum, leading an exclusive mummy clique and, well, the mums who don’t make the clique cut.
This morning on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour Jane Garvey discussed modern motherhood, motherly stereotypes and being addressed as ‘mummy’ by medical professionals with Sharon Horgan, Diane Morgan and Anna Maxwell Martin.
The show promises to be a refreshing take on parenthood, Sharon pointed out the show was not about the children and more about the relationships between the women. And Kevin the “slightly shunned” Dad.
Motherland starts tonight on BBC 2 at 10pm
