Mindy Kaling in talks to adapt Four Weddings and a Funeral

Mindy Kaling is reportedly working on a TV adaption of the film Four Weddings and a Funeral. The 1994 Richard Curtis classic romcom, which launched Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant’s film careers, is being developed for Hulu, the on demand service.

Following the original film concept, the TV series will tell the story of a group of friends as their lives intersect through these five life events – dividing each season into different story arcs. Hopefully an entire episode will be dedicated to the best line of the film: “is it raining, I hadn’t noticed.”

Creator Richard Curtis will be taking on the role of executive producer for the series, with Matt Warburton whose writing credits include The Simpsons and who executive produced The Mindy Project.

A decision on a potential straight-to-series order is expected to be made by Hulu early next year.
